As children became tweens and teenagers and parents’ careers grew, this family home also needed to evolve.
House inventory is scarce in LA. So rather than search for a new home, it was more practical to renovate the existing second floor. They earned this fulfilling reward for years of work in their respective fields.
First, the parents realized their dream of a private ensuite Primary Bedroom. This harmonious haven includes beautifully organized walk-in closets, custom furnishings designed by MKD, and boasts a bathroom big enough for a party!
The star of the Primary Bathroom is the Patagonia Green Quartzite. We framed the dazzling supernova with Quartzite Griggia on the vanity, countertops, waterfall, and shower bench. Granada arabesque cement tile is on the surrounding shower walls for quiet sophistication.
This redesign also created a cozy brand-new bedroom for one of the twins. Now all three children have a space to call their own. This charming room reflects her yearning to curl up and read and showcases her diverse talents and trophies.
Their eldest son scored his own bathroom with a walk-in shower. We used tone-on-tone white designer tile for a polished yet playful look. Custom cabinetry makes beautiful use of every cubic inch in the tight space.
The second-floor landing also got a revamp - with a Yale library vibe, in honor of their alma mater. Open, inviting, and intelligent, it evokes the owners’ values.
It was wonderful as always to collaborate again with Office42 Architecture.
